DuPage County hardscaping
Adding a patio changes how the rest of a yard works. AK's Landscape helps Lombard homeowners discuss hardscape projects that make room for outdoor use while accounting for lawn, beds and movement around the property. Start with your goals and a few clear photos.

Paver entry walk from our project gallery.
Before deciding how much area to pave, identify the green space you want to keep. Leave your garden, favorite tree, play space or open lawn in the sketch instead of treating it as leftover space. That makes it easier to compare a compact seating area with a larger entertaining layout.
The edge between paving and planting deserves attention too. A path can provide a clear connection to the door without cutting awkwardly across a bed. Bring views of the entire area so we can discuss those transitions, not just a close-up of the material you like.
If the project replaces an existing surface, explain why you want it changed. More seating, an easier route and a different appearance are separate priorities and can lead to different scopes. We will discuss the work area and available access before agreeing on a project.
A useful starting point
Mark lawn, gardens and established plants that belong in the finished layout.
A rough size and intended use help us understand the project before discussing finishes.
Show adjoining beds, doors, steps and paths so the new work can be considered as part of the yard.
Local planning
Lombard's residential patio handout discusses site planning, open space and information used for permit review. Consult the current village materials for your property and project. Keep the proposed patio to scale on your survey when gathering information for an estimate and any required review.
